This is my best animation (it's not for any use but my own personal use just now) but I can't achive decent clarity and compression?.

The 11 second .avi is 9996kb.

Here's (http://www.streetsie.com/images/kylie_11ss_53k.jpg) a 56kb .avi screenshot.

Here's (http://www.streetsie.com/images/kylie_11s_570kb.MOV) a crappy sorenson - 570kb 11 second .mov

Here's (http://www.streetsie.com/images/kylie_11s_2133kb.mpg) a half decent mpeg1 - 2133kb 11 second .mpg

Flash MX gave me 8776kb and looked crappy. .wma (for broadband 1500) came in at 2316kb and was comparable to the .mpg quality. My DivX is broken.

What do you use?. What really is the best??.

First let me say your in a league of your own compared to what I know about video so anything else I have to offer is from intellectual curiosity. But I understand DIVX and MP4 are the state of the art compression methods. It would then seem the best quality video would be best when one of these two methods are used. Your original resolution/pix per inch could be better. I know with my digital photography I have several quality options depending on how many pics I want per storage media or/and what resolution I want.

I have 56k dial up and so far your offerings do not stream well with my MediaPlayer 9. So I am downloaded them and then playing them in PC mode (I want to hear the whole Kylie_11 Fly Away tune...great). My MediaPlayer would not play the .mov file but my QuickTime did. So the variance I saw might be the difference between these two clients. The .mov file was very comparable to the .mpg file(if not better). Go figure. I did not see a link for the 11 second .avi.

Thanks moojee, that's very nice of you to say. The song is "The Zepher Song" from my store bought copy of "Buy The Way" from the "Red Hot Chilli Peppers" under the Warner label. I had to rip it to mp3 (probably illegal) to use it in DigiStudio (now extinct) so sadly the full kylie_3min53second (face is modeled on my friend Kylie) anim version may only ever be my personal property.

I think TempEnc has an MPEG4 encoder. Will have a look.

RE:

I can't achieve decent clarity

I took a look at your Kylie image using PSP animation and your ppi is 72. This is the lowest level of resolution for web images. My monitor can display 100 ppi and I think that is not uncommon and if the monitor can not display the higher resolution/100 the excess is discard and the monitors default resolution is used. Increasing you video's ppi might enhance the clarity.
:D
Next, your images are not onion skinned. That is, no forward or backward smoothing has been enabled in your images. If they were onion skinned the motion of your image would be more fluid. Onion skin is a PSP animation option.

Before you answer this you may want to consult your lawyer

Did you rig her yourself ? :D

if so then that is some very neat animation !!!

Re: moojee.. I can't increase the output ppi, and TMPGEnc doesn't have MPEG4 :( . I find PSP Anim shop freezes with anything over 6Mb. I could do it in parts. I'm looking at making it an .exe.. :/

RE:

I think Paul's comment is very near a complement. If not, then your way to nice to him. :p

When I edited the Kylie .mpg version with PSP animation I produced a 37mb .avi version. So that 6mb limitation must be on the input side. I can't think of any tricks to increase your ppi to 100 unless the software you use can use an input template. QuickTime Pro will produce mpeg4(if you don't have it you might try a trial version). :D

;) :p

rig : to bone your model :D

err let me put it another way, did you add the bones to a mesh which you created and then animated ?

DigiStudio is a very simple program. Shame it all went bust. If you find an old copy grab it, it's heaps of fun with no steep learning curve. No need to set meshes. And yes, I boned the model.. several times.
