I have set up (and paid for) a sub-domain whitelabmedia.com and enabled POP and SMTP in 'ops'. I can send email using this account to myself and others, but I ONLY receive email that I send myself from the same account. If I (or others) try to send from a different account, mail is returned with an error of

<<< 554 <x@whitelabmedia.com>: Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied
554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
<<< 554 Error: no valid recipients
Reporting-MTA: dns; smtpout.mac.com
Received-From-MTA: DNS; smtpin08-en2
Arrival-Date: Thu, 22 Jan 2004 13:24:22 -0800 (PST)

Final-Recipient: RFC822; x@whitelabmedia.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0
Remote-MTA: DNS; whitelabmedia.com
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 554 <x@whitelabmedia.com>: Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied
Last-Attempt-Date: Thu, 22 Jan 2004 13:24:32 -0800 (PST)

Everything is listed as active, with users for the account, and the domain name propagates correctly to my website.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!

I can send email from drale@drale.com to my hotmail account..

But my POP email (drale@drale.com) cannot receive email from hotmail. I get the same type of errors as the person who posted above.

I just sent you an email from a Yahoo account. Lettuce know if you get it. :)

i just emailed myself with my yahoo email
and it worked for me
hotmail seems to be the one with the problem for me

i did a google search for 'hotmail cant send to pop'

and i got this off some mail server website Faq
Hotmail mail servers are configured to accept external connections if they recognize the connecting domain on the HELO or EHLO command. eXtremail uses the value set on localdomain (check documentation) to connect to an external server, so, if you are experiencing problems with Hotmail, check that this value is not the default one (localhost), and set a real one (yours). That usually solve the problem

but that was uunder imformatin about sending email from pop to others but might have something to do with the other direction.
