Hi i use the PHPBB2 messegeboard software. I have done everything in the faq to get my messegeboard working.
I have a tutorial that tells you how to install the software (came from phpbb.com).. It worked fine on my old host i was using, but when i install it on Powweb i keep getting the 500 internal server error.
here is what i have done in order:
1.opened cuteftp and put in all my info from my email to ftp to my server
2. i upload my phpBB2 folder to htdocs directory
3. i edited the index.php file with ultraedit and put #!/usr/local/bin/php at the very top of the file and uploaded the changes.
4. i set my permissions to 755 on the index.php file
5.then i type in my url to the index.php(im using the temp site right now until my permanent site starts working)http://secfanaticscom.powweb.com/phpBB2/index.php
6. Then i get the 500 error
could it be that it wont work with the temp url? i cant figure this out. It was easy to set up on the other host.

Are you sure you uploaded in the correct formats? Such as ASCII and Binary? If you're using CuteFTP, you might want to upload the files and use manual file upload types. You can change this by going to File: Transfer Type. I don't use Auto, just because I don't trust CuteFTP. Hey, it's always safe to be sure.

This might sound stupid, but according to you this is the only reason it's not working. Make sure the file you are editing is the one you upload! Sometimes I edit a file that I don't even upload. Just double check. Try uploading again, and take it 1 step at a time.

here is the error that i get in my log:
Premature end of script headers: /www/s/secfanatics/htdocs/phpBB2/index.php

Don't you have to config the files before you upload them? (like enter your information?). Maybe you have an error there.
Hi,
i have done exactly the same thing as you, i have uploaded phpbb2 and tried accessing it from my temp address and it didn;t work so i figured it had something to do with that temp adress not being fully operational??
take note of this link it is help from someone who has already uploaded phpbb2 onto powweb's servers and got it working..

no your supposed to (on the other server anyways) upload your files to the htdocs folder on your host.. then you connect your web browser to http://yourhost.com/phpBB2/index.php
then when it actually works thats where you configure your board settings.

Uh uh. Configure your config.php then upload it. Also, you need to add #!/usr/local/bin/php to more than just config.php.
There is a tutorial somewhere that explains how to do all this. unfortunately the site is down at the moment. I'll post a link as soon as it comes up.
