I get the following message when I try to connect to my forum at http://www.comandosupremo.com/phpBB2

Could not connect to the database
My server is jupiter.powweb.com
Can somebody reboot the system for me.
Thanks,

If you're using 'localhost' as your server in your connection config, that was a short-term solution. You'll need to use 'jupiter.powweb.com' instead. Another user reported this same thing and changing the above fixed it for them.

I am using jupiter.powweb.com as the server name, and I still cannot connect to the database server.
I just checked in OPS and the users for both of my databases on jupiter are blank. I tried to recreate a user for one of the databases and it will not let me create a user with the name that was previously associated with the database. How can I reassociate the user that was previously associated with the database?
Also, when I try and create a new user with a totally new username, it just gives me an error stating: "There was an error with your request, please try again!"
Thanks,
Andy
Hello, I got up this morning and found that my forums would not work either. I am also on jupiter.powweb.com. I checked ops and someone had deleted my users. I guess I was lucky because I was able to add new users with the same names as before, and all's working now.

It tells me that the user already exists when I try and add them back...

I'm also having problems with mySQL on jupiter. Everything was working 100% and now it just won't connect to the DB. So I went in and checked the configuration files and sure enough it was set to localhost. I changed that to jupiter.powweb.com and still it won't connect.
The really odd thing is I also have forums setup on this account which is seperate from the main site and they are working just fine with the mySQL DB. So I know it works but I just can't figure out why the main site suddenly won't connect to the DB. Any help would be appriciated.

Check the database in question in OPS and see if there is still a user assigned to it. The users disappeared from both of my databases on Jupiter, but a 3rd on another server is fine.

We too are having troubles.
All database users have been removed!!!
I've setup totally new users, and changed the config files to suit, and we still don't work!!
I can login now using the PowWeb global phpMyAdmin, but that's hardly good enough is it?
I notice that the phpMyAdmin section has had some changes made. The changes look like it's to make using the global phpMyAdmin easier for people with multiple databases (like we have), but during these changes, has the person/people screwed up?
Have PowWeb been letting work experience kids do the work this time?
We've been down for a while now - my email box is full up with database error messages, and they keep coming.
Can we get some service around here soon or what?
Thanks for the help guys but I just wanted to let you know my problems are resolved. I don't actually know why but about 30 minutes after I switched it to use jupiter.powweb.com it just started working. I'm assuming there must have been a caching issue or something which caused a delay. At any rate it's working fine for me now.

My database is still down. Can someone from Powweb tell me what is going on please? It's obviously not just me having this problem today.
Thank you

I went to ops and saw my user name under the MySql section was removed. I added my name again and now the site is back up and running. Wonder why my name was removed in the first place..site was working fine last night.
Mine is now back-up.
The member operations panel wasn't working for a while either, which was causing me problems when trying other user accounts.

I don't think this is the way to get a response from ANYONE working in support.
I was finally able to add new users to my databases and change the config files on those databases and all works now. It seems if your username on a database matched the username for any other service, it was removed from the database. Try adding a new, unique user and see what happens and not screaming and yelling, that never works. Trust me, I work in tech support myself.

It's back up and working already.
I sorted out all the user accounts and config files, and our site came back online.
But then it went down again, then back up and down, like a yo-yo!
Coming home from work today I have not found any error reports in my email box, so it seems it's back to being stable. Which is good.
On the tail of tech. support - i'm usually very polite towards it/them.
But yesterday, I was getting pretty sick of it all!
One has to admit that some dumb *** caused the problems, and paying customers were left to solve the riddle. After several attempts at doing what needed to be done, but it not having 100% affect caused frustration.
If a tech. support department, a representative department of a company, do not support, and further do not support those paying customers who are frustrated, then it's fair game to say they should not be in that job!
What are tech. support for? To deal only with minor problems being experienced by only the quietest of customer? I think that's a pretty poor excuse for tech. support attitute.
Tech. support was one of my first jobs when I left education - I certainly never turned a blind eye on any customer experiencing problems with the systems they payed for from the company that I worked for. If myself or any of my collegues did that, they would have replaced us with sombody else, and rightly so.
All is well and good now, so i'm cool. PowWeb usually run a more tighter ship than i've seen over the last few days. I hope this is not a growing trend.

Maybe, but we don't know what caused it.

I have a feeling that if someone was screaming at you and calling you an idiot for a problem you didn't cause, you didn't go out of your way to help them out. It's easy to be passive aggressive in tech support, we both know that. And screaming puts most people in total passive aggressive mode.
