ftp accounts

i dont understand why the accounts i just created are not being authenticated when i try to log in

i created ftp accounts
i changed their passwords
and i try to log on and yet it fails
saying
Response: 331 User ireniobb OK. Password required
Command: PASS ******

my default ftp still works but i need these other accounts to to work

When you add users and/or change passwords, it takes some time to update on the ftp server. I have seen a 5min minimum to a 2 hour maximum, tho, the 2 hour is REALLY rare.
