Hiya folks

I'm just curious, if I were to install a forum on my powweb site, how big do you think it could get (in active member numbers) before it would hit the 5GB daily bandwidth cap?

I'm thinking about installing Invision Power Board, but friends have told me about forums eating up lots of bandwidth so I'm just trying to plan ahead just incase. ;)

No one can truly answer that Clu.. You may have 25 members who post 10 a day or 250 who post 1 a day. Then if you provide skins and they use them. If you enable smilies or attachments.. inline images.. avatar size.. visitors?.. You may only have 20 mem's but if 10 000 visitors hit your site/forum you may pop the cap.

I'd say whack it up there and just monitor it. If you start nearing the limit, then worry about it. Worse case scenario your 25 000 forum squatters post 200 a day and alot of crap posts with nothing but a " :) " *grumble *grumble.. you could always just lock the board or even remove it. So go for it!.

Hmm I see what you're saying. Thank you for the insight, Croc Hunter. I'll go ahead with the forum then. :D

Just curious, and I'm sure there's no definite answer, what kind of bandwidth do you guys think this forum uses a day?
