View Full Version : Is it possible to ftp through
The mac os X command line terminal? I've tried numerous times and with no luck. I did a search and couldn't find anything saying it couldn't be or could be done... Perhaps im doing something wrong with the server address.
Should be possible - ftp is ftp. You should use the FTP server name as shown under the FTP tab in Member Operations.
I've tried that and it doesn't seem to work.
Absolutely. Open Terminal, type FTP and press return. Then 'open ftpxx.powweb.com' and press return. It'll ask you for your username - type it in and press return. Next it'll ask for your password - type it in and press return. From there, use the standard UNIX commands. When you're finished, type 'close' to disconnect the FTP session.
How do you Mac users love this!!! For once PC/Microsoft wins!! ;)

What's the error? Please show us exactly what you type (leave out your actual username and password) and what messages show on the screen.
It says login is incorrect but I know I typed my username and password correctly.
This is the message I get
530 Authentication failed, sorry
ftp: Login failed.
Are you using the correct FTP server? Also remember that passwords and usernames are case-sensitive.
Yes it was the right server...I got it to work had to double check my user name. I thought the first letter in it was capitail but I was wrong. Anyways thanks for the help.
It's those pesky Macs again... :D
