View Full Version : Looking for Input on Personal Site
Looking for input on personal site of mine: http://www.sotik.com/
Any input is appreciated (design, content, pros, cons).
Also, if you have a few minutes, I've started designing a website for the Army Reserve Unit I work at. There's nothing really to it at this point, but I would like some input before I do much more with it. It's temporarily placed on the PowWeb servers at http://www.sotik.com/testsites-317/
Thanks in advance.

Marcus:
I checked your site out.
The things I like:
The mouseover routines for the TOC at the left of main.htm
The photo of you that you filtered in Photoshop (you have a sweater on and are looking to your right).
The layout of your paragaphs. Breaks things up a little.
The banner exchange.
The guestbook.
The things I don't like:
The plain-jane background.
The Red, White, Blue bmp on the left.
Needs some more content, but then so does mine.
---
I signed your gb.
Peace.

Been tryin to come up with content, but I'm not the most creative person. The last version of the site had more info, but I lost it somehow. And, smart me, didn't have a backup copy. So I decided to start over - with Frontpage. Now I've been fairly busy creating a website for my unit, so I don't feel like doin this when I get home after work.
The bmp on the left of my main page is a hyperlink to another page of mine with a prayer. The red bars represent the two WTC towers and the blue thing is the Pentagon. Clicking on it will take you to a prayer. I have a very strong sense of patriotism (unlike some people, I had it prior to 9/11) and this was the least I could do.
The background is simple. The last to incarnations of my site had different backgrounds, but also had a more cluttered feel (although I've gotten complaints for switching to this layout...some people thought the last one was better). I've been tryin to simplify things, but unfortunately, that also tends to borify things (like my word?).
Very much appreciate the input. I've still got that content problem, but visitor submissions are more than welcome. As far as the layout, I thought it might look better that way...guess I was right. :D I'm also glad someone noticed those mouseovers! And the picture was actually on my old site and there was a story that went along with it...maybe I should put the story up again.
And I really appreciate you signing the guestbook. You've made me very happy.
Banner exchange should be up soon...don't have many sites/banners yet, so if you all want to take part, the criteria are on my website (main page in fact).
And now, I stop with the rambling.

Marc, I linked you on my main page. My poll has been showing I need some more content. Any ideas what I could add?

Do I have to be authorized to view your site? I am having trouble connecting.
Who's site?
Both www.sotik.com and www.fornicorn.com work for me
Leet - Thanks for linking to my site. Not sure what you could add...I can't barely think of stuff for my site.
I am working on a new letter (based loosely on my Rolaids letter: http://www.sotik.com/pfizer.htm) to various companies (to include Microsoft). Basically, I tell them I'm taking over the world, but don't have the resources and ask them for money. (I am both bored and entertained easily)
We'll see what kinda responses I get.
