Apache + MySql=bad graphix?

I'm running a local server with MySql and Apache as a testing server. When i try to view my php files, I get a lot of the graphics scrambled. example, i have a header image(jpeg), 400x125, about the top third displays and the rest is either all gray or a rainbow of colors, like the image is trying to be created, but it just stops loading. browser refresh does nothing nor does replacing the gfx files. files uploaded to powweb are fine and display correct, but i would rather be able to refine my site locally rather than uploading and checking over and over again.

You may need to use stripslashes() before sending the image, if you are getting the image out of the database.
