Is it possible to delete the catch-all address so I can get rid of unwanted emails?

If so, how?

What are the effects of deleting it?

The catch-all cannot be deleted. Take a look at one solution I posted at:

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion Michael. It worked. I hope we have more subscribers and moderators like you who can always find time to assist Powweb clients.

Hi,

Not sure if someone has already suggested it but you could use a e-mail program like Incredimail (no plug intended), it allows you to preview the message headers of any of your mail accounts without actually downloading the messages.

Just setup a junkmail POP account and check it when you want, just double-click on any message you want to retrieve, highlight the rest and press delete, poof they're gone.

My site has been online since 1996 so I get a LOT of misdirected/spam mailings, sometimes 200 in a day! 99% of them are junkmail or typos but once in a while someone accidently makes a typo addressing to a message to you and you would miss the message if you did an auto-dump.

I used to do a ignore/dump until I started using Incredimail, it's very fast to check and nuke the ones you don't want, much faster than surfing to Hotmail or logging into it when it is really busy.

Another nice feature of this is you can delete the mail without actually opening it, which in a lot of cases sends out a call-home to the originator or stats collection agency to track if you read it or not, time, etc. without you knowing unless you track your incoming/outgoing traffic on your PC, you'd be suprised at how many companies do this!

Regards,

Mike :)

Hi, sorry should have left that link...

Download Incredimail Link (http://www.incredimail.com/english/download.html)

I'm sure you'll get hooked on it in no time.

FYI!

Incredimail places a line to all of your outgoing mails like this:

IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here

If you like the program and wish to get rid of this line, you'll need to cough up $30.

Just for anyone who's using this program.

On a side note, the program works beautifully with PowWeb. I've downloaded and tested it myself :) Don't really care for the line placed on every outgoing email, so I don't think I'll continue using it.

Just my 2 cent!

I guess it all depends on what it is worth to you and what your needs are, I've been using it since it first came out and it keeps getting better all the time and they don't try to hose you for petty upgrade fees all the time. When you buy a licence it unlocks many other features and a lot more graphics/skins, etc.

My only complaint with the program is that you can't export your messages database out to a common format that you could import back into Outlook Express or other mail program, I've been asking them for this since it first came out - I think they purposely left that out so once you start using it you will stick with it or have to run both e-mail programs to reference old mail :-(

I've found the VIP support to be good, at least they read it and listen to you, try sending Microsoft a complaint about Outlook :-)

I love the notifiers, they always get comments when I have friends over and "Babe" a.k.a. "Barbie" as my wife call her... comes running out "Hey.." :-) and the skins are nice too to have the option of changing the overall look of the client as you wish.

I have it running 12-18 hours a day on my pc checking multiple accounts every 5mins., I've rarely ever had it lock up or cause probs. with other apps.

Another company just came out with a similar e-mail client, they advertise it as $30 as well, but then when you look at it, to get all the features they talk about you have to bend over and pay $129 for the "Premium" edition and then also pay for add-in templates if you want to use them as well. With Incredimail, you pay $29.95 and unless you want to make your own backgrounds, etc. I think it is $49, I don't even use 5% of the ones I have now so having it would be a waste unless I wanted to make a custom masthead or something. If you have a cool background photo you think would make a good one, send it to them, their designers will create it for you and add it to the library (by the way one of mine "Flying High" has been in the top 10 for about a year now that I sent in) they give you credit and a link to your site, if you do web design, etc. it is a good way to attract some hits to your page. Who knows one of these days one of them might ask me to do a custom job for them and that'd prob. more than pay for the program.

Boy I'm starting to sound like a salesperson again... sorry.
