View Full Version : Help...........osCommerce/catalog/admin
How can I prevent /osCommerce/catalog/ from appearing in my website for public browsing. What a surfer will get is: mysite.com/oscommerce/catalog/admin/' I don't want anything other than the website.com to show in the url address bar.
Thanks for the help.
We have an osCommerce section of the forum for such questions - please feel free to use it in the future.
I'm not sure what you want. You should protect the admin folder with a password - details on doing that are in the osCommerce section.
I'd suggest deleting your store and starting over with an install in a folder other than one with osCommerce in the name. Does the PowWeb install do that? Typically people will have just /catalog or /store under their main folder, or what I do which is to have the "store" be the top level of the site.
I don't recommend trying to "mask" the page URLs, that will be especially troublesome for a store as it will prevent the secure "lock" from appearing in the browser.

If you dont plan on having anything else on your webserver, just delete everything and use powweb's oscommerce setup in member ops it gives you a choice of dir, just remove everything and it should go into htdoc's thus only showing the domain name... well no dir's but the session ID will show up etc. you wont want to mask it though as stevel is right, it will interfer with SSL and session's...
you can just install oscommerce in your root directory, that is htdocs.
