Image constraints

I am trying to replace some of the icons on OsCommerce with original icons some smaller some larger. I am pretty versed on image manipulation, but I am not so versed on what conditions are present to prohibit the images I post to appear the same size as the image I replace. UNLESS I should just rename the image? Any suggestions.... ???

The display size of most any image that osC displays is automatically taken from the image's actual size, if you have Calculate Image Size set to true under the Images section of the admin panel. Exceptions are product and category images, whose sizes are taken from settings under Images.

So if you replace buttons or icons with images of your own, they should automatically be displayed at their natural size. If you have Calculate Image Size off, then the browser will display them at the proper size, but it will cause your page to look strange as it loads, since text will get moved about.
