where do i start

I just down load this osCommerce script, and i don't know where to start. where is the file that has the instrution? there is a file that mark "INSATLL" but i click on it, windows can not open in.
so does any one know the first thing I am suppose to do.
Once I get pointed in the right direction i will be OK

If you downloaded the ZIP file and unpacked it, read the INSTALL.txt file (open in WordPad).

You will have to upload all the files first to your site and then access the install script from there. You do not run the install on your local PC.

I suggest you think first about how you want your site to be organized. The default is that the osCommerce files are under a "catalog" folder, but you may want the "store" to be your site, in which case it should be uploaded to your htdocs folder. Make the appropriate changes in the configure.php files.

I will comment that osCommerce has a steep learning curve.

Have you tried letting powweb do its own install, goto your OPS and the HTTP section and click the osCommerce logo which will install and untar everything on the server... then you can use the setup from there... if you dont want to edit the config files yourself... you will still need to download the chmod php file thats somewhere around here and create a backups dir in the admin section and password protect the admin dir as well, all which will be done thru ftp... If you have any prob's let me know.

Thanks alot for your help, I got the the script up and i was making some changes. I was puting changing the product and category and i did somthing wrong now I get this message
