In ops..when I go to the FTP tab....Instead of saying what the actual MB Quota is (1000mb) it just says --quota--.

For the amount of files..it tells you exactly..but not for space quota. Any reason why?

I am sure it will be back shortly.
They must be working on something at the moment.

Maybe they're uping the limit again :D

Both of my accounts have this same thing, and have had them for several days...Are they upping the limit?

I am seeing the same thing. I guess updates must be underway of some kind.

Sorry, I didn't get to see that one. I just checked rokworld.com to see if I could catch the error. It is back to giving the actual quota. Questioned an admin, and he said he had never seen that as well.

I got that too. Kinda scary not knowing that the quota is...

I'll take a stab at this too...

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the NetApp was moved to the new location in the datacenter.

That is a possibility, but after checking yesterday evening, I was unable to fine one that was not showing the actual quota.

Today, uploads only come through as 0k or 9k.
D/L's sometimes 0, sometimes fine.
I've tried in both WSFTP & the Powweb FTP.
Different locations, different computers, same thing.
Can anyone help? Am I missing something?

thanx

Have I exceeded my Quota? Or gone insane?

Wyndra

Acually i don't think it's our quota, 1,024.00
As the file names and extensions are fine.

Wyndra,

Log into OPs and go to "Packages" > "FTP" tab. Look beside the "Used" line and see what it says there.

If it is saying 1,024.00 MB, then you have reached your max quota.

I have been checking into my OPS and have noticed it acting a bit funny. The first thing I noticed, yesterday, was that my tansfer for Wednesday was 800MB. I thought, wow, what's causing this. I check my logs and AWStats, and it says that 70MB was transfered that day. I was confused...

Today, I go in there and see that Wednesday's transfer had gone down to what AWStats said. Someone is going back in time and changing the past!

Also, thing I noticed... Under the FTP tab, it shows things like your host, how much space is used, blah blah blah. Under quota it says "--quota-- MB." It used to say 1024MB, If I remember correctly.

Anyways, is anyone else seeing these problems?

Deb,

Even though it doesn't say what the quota is, the quota is still 1,024 MB.

In the "Used Space" line, if that states 1,024 MB or 25,000 files, then you HAVE reached your max quota. You also have to watch your number of files, as that limit is 25,000.

If you have truly reached your limit, when you try to FTP, you should get an error that says something along the lines of "Disk Quota Full" or "No Disk Space".

Is there a need to put up a legend stating "--quota--" = 1024MB :D

Is 1,000 MB the limit ?Yes ... no matter what it says in OPS.

This has been the "quota/limit" for awhile. That has not changed.

We'll try to get an answer why it reads like so ...

Thank you.:)

Would the Quota be calculated from the 1st day of each calendar month to the last? Or any 30 day period?

tbonekkt

The quota is not calculated like that. You may be thinking of the bandwidth limit, but the FTP/storage space limit is an ongoing check.

Wyndra

So are you saying it's not how much i send back and forth but how much is stored at any one time on our host?

Hey, that helps alot. I couldn't figure out why it would work/not work/work. Great!:D

Disk Quota = Amount of usable space for storing your files. (once the space is used, you can no longer FTP files in, until you clear some space).

On Powweb that "quota" is 1,024 Megabytes or 25,000 files (whichever comes first).

I tried to running a little perl script to show space used as a temp fix but it pulls a 500 error. Probably because of the same 'space' access problem OPS is having?.#!/usr/bin/perl

@space=`quota -v`;

print "Content type: text/html\n\n";

@split_space=split(' ', $space[2]);

print "Disk usage = $split_space[1] kilobytes";

--quota-- is what seems to be broken on some accounts.

Its the limit of the disc space on the server for your package.
Each package comes with 1 gig of server space.

If quota was working it would say that.

Thats all, you still have the full amount of space you signed up for.

The odd --quota-- should not affect your capability to upload files to your server.

You may want to input a support ticket concerning that problem and be sure to point out that you do not have the max space used.

Didn't mean to open a can of worms here...it's not that big a deal, just odd. If it helps anyone any, here's a screenshot from the FTP summary of both rokworld.com and shantinilaya.com:
