From what I can tell you have a dir/folder named index.html with pics inside.

You need to rename "website.htm" to index.htm or index.html

The server will then serve up that first ... aka: your homepage

The you need to rename the "index.html" dir/folder to images, img, pics ... anything that will reflect what is inside the folder.

Alpha Desk,
Thank you for the tips. I did that and my pictures and music are not showing up. What do I do now?
Thank you,
Kit

:( My other pages are not working either. Is this server compatiable with websites built with Microsoft Publisher? If so, how in the world do I load them properly?????????

Name your index file either index.htm OR index.html NOT index.html.htm - probably best to keep it as index.htm as your other pages use the .htm extension.

You will also need to change your "Homepage" link in your menu as it's pointing to "website.htm" not your index file.

All of your images, annimations and pages seem to be working fine for me.

Second, you should probably buy yourself a book. There are a number of very good titles out there to help you get started. Avoid any that mention
"Microsoft Publisher" in the title.

Third, in this and the othere thread you started, you have already received some good advice. Take a deep breath and read through it all carefully.

Finally, when someone types www.kitsflowerseedshop.com into their browser, the server looks for a file called either index.html or index.htm or index.php. It appeasr that you do not have such a file and this is why people going to your site arer getting a listing of files on your site instead of the site itself. Renaming the file that you have named index.html.htm to index.html will fix the problem.

Additionally, by default, PowWeb's servers don't list site contents. I am guessing that Microsoft Publisher has fiddled with your site configuration to allow this. This is not a good thing. As I have said elsewhere, Microsoft Publisher is a pile of doggy doo and you should stop using it immediately.

MS Publisher - not a good choice
Having got part of your site to work, I'd suggest you re-evaluate everything about it!

Using MS Publisher is inefficient for web-site creation - even when an image is used repeatedly on different pages (eg your link to homepage) it is stored individually. This means that the image file has to be sent each time, and even on my broadband ADSL line a noticable time lag occurs that I don't notice with much fuller and complex sites. Try something like CuteHTML or other software. Publisher is good for DTP starters, but it's ability to do web-pages is poor. I could go on more and more, eg check youir use of PayPal - are you signed up with them as a merchant? Try and get an almost complete site up and running locally before publishing anything more than a holding page or coming soon framework. Request assistance though the Forums, people are friendly, but choose your problems beyond 'how do I get started' as the Forums can't provide individiual tuition and walk-throughs for the whole site construction......Rant over.....

Your original question was about FTP - try using CuteFTP. It's easy to install and simple to use, but first design and make a web-site.
