I'm wondering if anybody knows of a directory size utility out there? I know you can manually go through and check the stats on each directory but I need something that will tell me that info at a glance; so I can see how much space what is taking up.

ideas?

You will find what you need on my Tips & Scripts page (link in my sig). Will tell you directory size and find files over a certain size.

hmmm, I posted this reply before and now its gone...

I'm in need of something for my hard drive though. With a 40gig drive and barely 5gig free, I know where 12gig of it went (to one video file) but I need to try freeing up othe space. I need to see what all I can toss over to CD and remove from the drive but if I had an easier way to see what's taking up what, perhaps I can put entire chunks of common product together.

Are you using invisible ink again?? :D

Seriously, I've not removed any posts from this forum.

Have you tried using the "Find Files / Folders" ? You can type in *.wmv as your search string and it will return all files that end in .wmv.

I've used Find Junk Files for ages. It does exactly that and deletes all the useless junk files windows creates. Review the list before you delete the first time you run it. The download also contains Find Dead Links, Strip Zip files, Find Empty Folders, and the one you want Skunk - Find Folder Space. You can use one or all, they're very simple to use and all free.

[edit] Oopsies.. forgot the link :D v 1.31 - 1.1Mb

Awsome program! Thanks Croc :D

There's only one major flaw I found with it. It claims to find junk files? Is not Microsoft junk? Last I knew Linux, freeBSD, or even Mac was better than MS.

But yeah... thanks.

Its a good thing for Mac....

hmmm, you must do a search everytime you first come to the forum. Search "Mac" LOL

Must get lost when someone posts a question involving MAC addresses :D
