Hi, all...
I just signed up at Powweb yesterday thanks to a good friend's direction. I have a question about creating subdirectories within the site.
I've followed the instructions, and in my subdirectory, I'm getting my main index's index.html page. I have an index.html page in the subdirectory, so I'm quite confused as to why this is happening!
I appreciate any help you can offer me!
Thanks,
Latisha

Hi, welcome to Powweb. Could you explain your problem a little more please? -bruce
I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but are you saying you have your main index here:
/htdocs/index.html - We'll name this one "A" for future reference
and also one in
/htdocs/subdirectory/index.html - this one we'll call "B"
and when you try to go to www.domain.com/subdirectory you
get the "A" page instead of the "B" page?
IF SO:::: Then I would _first_ suggest going in through ftp and making sure you didn't accidentally upload the "A" index into the subdirectory by accident, making multiple copies of the same index in different directories.
IF NOT:::: Could you please explain exactly what is going wrong?
Latisha,
First, welcome to Powweb and the Forum :)
When you post a problem, it helps if you post a link to the pages in question. That helps those who are willing to help you, and often speeds up the process.

I'm going to try to attempt to respond to all three posts in here.
After I closed out the site, I realized I neglected to post my site URL. The main site is www.star-wisher.com. That's coming up fine with a coming soon page. The issue is that my subdirectory, fan.star-wisher.com isn't.
I have checked the index.html files, and the index.htmls are two separate files.
IF NOT:::: Could you please explain exactly what is going wrong?
I think my problem lies in my .htaccess file to re-route the subdirectory to it being a subdomain. I'm not 100% sure, though. Did I explain any better?
Thanks,
Latisha
Latisha,
Looks like what you are wanting to do is to make a subdomain. If you are not trying to point a second domain name to the subdomain, then you might want to do this the easy way, without an .htaccess file. You can see how it is done HERE (http://www.rccomputer.net/tips/subdomains.html)
