I am using a Oscommerce (nuke version) shopping cart, and i dont really like it. Is there some other carts out there that dont cost an arm and a leg, AND you can add the product option at the same time you add the product? This is a pain in oscom.
Just looking for some alternatives.
Thanks
There's a contrbution that makes it easy to add attributes when you add a product. I forget the name right now but I'm using it and it's nice.

That's already a part of osCommerce. It is a little confusing to use at first, but I'm pretty sure you just go to your admin panel and then click on the Catalog link. Then, in the Catalog subcategory, click on Product Attributes. There are already some default options in there, but you can delete those and add your own. Then at the bottom, you can adjust the price accordingly by doing that. It may look a little confusing at first, but I'm sure once you got to using it, it would be pretty easy. Hope that helps.
Product Attributes Sort Order (http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1822/category,3/search,attributes) is the one I was referring to. I primarily wanted it for the sort order but it provides a nice grid-based table on the product page
tacimala, the standard attribute handling is very annoying to use.

I already know how to use the one that comes in oscom. It sucks.
It would be nicer if you could add the option at the same time you add the products.
It sucks to add the product, then have to go in to a different part of admin and add the options. And it sucks even worse to add a bunch of products then have to go and add options to all those products. It would just be a more fluid adding process to do all at once.
Is that what you are saying that contribution does?

Touche, I would definitely agree that it would be easier to do all at once, I just didn't know if you knew about the available option at all so I was trying to point that out. I'll keep that contribution in mind if I am ever to need it, thanks stevel.

I am thinking of using the cart from http://www.turnkeywebtools.com It is $189 but you can add options on the same screen while your adding products, it has discount options, and all the features that i am looking for. BUT i am gonna try to use it in an I-Frame  so not sure how that is gonna work out, i would like to keep the nuke site.

I currently use sunshop from turnkey and it's amazing! I tried a heck of a lot of carts out there, and that's the best one. Well worth $500.

Hello All, I run a store with 2,300 products so attributes was going to be a huge problem so i installed a nice contribution that lets you add attributes to one product and then copy the same attributes to what ever products you select... Works great, but could be a lil easier to use.

Hope it helps.
Ozone,
Would you mind explaining why you chose SunShop over other options and did you consider OsCommerce in your decision?
Is it difficult to install SunShop on PowWeb's servers and is it easy to customize it?
I am about to take the plunge and I'd really like to get the facts from someone who is actually using each product.
Thanks a lot.

I can tell you about both, i tried both and oscommerce was ok, there are tons of contributions, or add-ons, that you can get for free to customize it for your needs. The main reason i did not use it was the product options and they way that you add them. Most of my products have options (sizes, colors ect) and with oscommerce it was a major pain to add options to products. I had heard of a contribution that made it easier but i could never find one that made it as easy as the way you do it with Sunshop.
With Sunshop you add the options at the same time and the same page as the product itself.
BTW both are easy to install on powweb servers, oscommerce a little more easier because you can basicly install it right from ops. And oscommmerce is free.
My advise is try oscommerce first, its free. You can always get sunshop or something else later.
I don't see any product on Turnkey's site called sunshop. They only show Complete E-commerce Solution at $189 and a lite version for $49. Did I miss something, or do I have the wrong web site?

I don't see any product on Turnkey's site called sunshop Are you blind? LOL its right there. the "complete bla blabla is just the description, look at the name on the box.
Yes, I'm apparently blind  . Nice sarcastic response to a sincere question.
Look again. The web design makes the blue link stand out, but the light orange "SunShot" on the box is lost. In fact, I brought this to their tech folks attention. They had just changed the page yesterday and missed the fact that the only place "SunShot" appears is on the box.
Let's just drop this portion of the thread.
