remove shopping cart function?

I have a customer that wants to set up a database online for his rental equipment. He doesnt want anyone to be able to make the sale online. I have setup osCommerce before and he likes being able to update his catalog thru the admin page. Is there any way I can remove the whole shopping cart aspect and just use the database and admin features. Turned off all payment methods, buy now and shopping cart in the options but you can still access checkout and the cart. There is probably some other package I should be using to access the mySQL database, just used to osCommerce. Any suggestions appreciated.

Just remove the links to the cart and "add to cart" buttons in the appropriate pages.

Thanks for your reply - I've stripped out most of it. Theres just a couple of things I cant find - what file contains the whats new here welcome guest, etc part at the top of the main catalog page between header.php and index.php?

Also, do you know where the colours are controlled from?
