Trying to get as much info. before i sign up.
sent a question to powweb tech.support.

question=since my site is large and i have a 56k modem should i try to send the whole site at once or little at a time?

answer= should do a little at a time because there is a 10mb bandwidth limit.

Now have any of you heard of this and done just that?
jj has already told me that you should send in small groups.is this because of the bandwidth transferr limit?
thanks

If you are using the free version WS_FTP_LE you probable want to send a little at a time.

If you have WS_FTP_PRO ther is a feature that is supposed to pick where it stopped if you get timed out.

what exactly does that 10mb bandwidth limit mean?

The server will timeout at 10mb upload to keep it from getting tied up so other sites on the server will function.

Remember this is virtual hosting (many sites on one server) not one site per server.

I use ws-ftp pro.So if i find the feature to use it than i should be able to click on my main directory and start the upload. And when (if) the powweb server i will be using reaches my 10mb it will stop the upload until there is a another spot for me to resume. That sound right?
thanks again

My reasons for only uploading files in "batches" is because, like you, I am on a 56k modem connection. I never know when my ISP will have a glitch, or the connection may drop out for any reason. So even when I have a large site to upload (to any server, not just Powweb) I try to do them in "groups" just to be on the safe side.

I've had too many files get corrupted because of a lost connection, and not find out that they are corrupted until the site is all uploaded. It's just easier for me to do things in steps so I can keep a closer eye on what is going on.

Just so you'd know my reason for saying what I had. ;)
