OK... I think most things are working now.. the pop email is working, the DNS is changed and verifiable.. BUT I can't get to the site hosted by powweb if I type in the www before my domain name. It works fine without the www, but with the www it takes me to the old host... how do I correct this?
I think that the DNS for your site has just not propagated fully for your area. If you're new site is not 72 hours or more old, the DNS propagation across the Internet hasn't had time to complete yet.
I just checked and from here (US/North Dakota) I can access your site either way. And from I see they are the same host/site as the content and look are both identical.

It's a problem that I need to get resolved because I can no longer access the old site. If you'll notice at the bottom of the screen, the one with the WWW still hast "this site hosted by esmartstart.com". yadda yadda yadda... and there are a few other link changes too, like the email no longer works because it will, on the WWW version, go to bigmailbox who is not charging for email service so I've decided to not pay any more than I already am..
I can see your site with the www and don't see that on the page. Looks like a propagation issue.
I'm seeing the site either way

How long does this usually take? I'm still seeing the old version that is being hosted elsewhere. Also, I have access to the web mail through powweb at home, but at work it gives me an error that the DNS lookup failed to find the host. Is this the same issue of propogation? Just a little frustrating...

Sometimes the problem is that the cache for the particular DNS router used by your ISP hasn't been flushed. This has happened to me twice so far - I can't get to my own site from my own machine but other people have no problem. The solution is to disable DNS in the TCP/IP settings of your Network settings in Windows (keep a record of whatever number is in there now, if there is one, so you can put it back if you want to) or, if there's no number there now, see if you can find someone who can provide you with a DNS router number to stick in so you can bypass your ISP's errant router.
One other quick test you can make - if you have more than one ISP, see if the problem occurs with both or with only one. I have a cable modem and a dial-up connection, each with a different ISP. The fact that I had no problem accessing my site through my dial-up connection, but couldn't through my cable connection, gave me a pretty strong clue that it was my cable ISP's router's cache that was causing the problem.
If I'm wrong on any of this please post a correction - this is certainly not my area of specialty, just what I've picked up as a result of difficulties I've had.

Jay you're correct...
but you don't have to disable DNS..... most people are using the automatic setting.... unless they have an assigned IP......
just change it to manual....then you can add a DNS entry.... "powwebs".... to the list..... and when the DNS issue has been resolved.... remove it......
give it a week.... 2 to be safe.... url caching is really a pain for people doing this kind of stuff..... especially if the techs maintaing the DNS servers..... foret one week to do it.....
that happened on my end once..... so it was 2 weeks before I could see the site,,,,
