I was just wondering in general how many of you powweb users out there think meta tags are useful and how many use them?

I use them...they're easy to add. But I don't expect much from them. Actually, I don't expect much from search engines in general. I do all my advertising locally. You get what you put in (most of the time :D ).

I never really bothered to use them so I was just wondering how many actually put them in. Most of my advertising is word of mouth and referrals as if I advertised a sugar glider locally, people would be like "a what?" LMAO. I have that nice little marketing degree of mine, but right now don't do enough "business" to really want to pay for advertising either... that's why I was wondering if they really work or if they aren't worth the time inserting. The robot tag limits you being put in search engines anyway as far as I know b/c your site can't be indexed.
The robots META tag does not hurt your ranking, unless you are using it to block the bots.
Using
<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="All">
<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="index,follow">
Tells the bots (the ones that read the META tags) to index all of the content of the page and to follow any links from that page.
The keywords META tag is pretty much ignored by most SE's, but there are still a few that will use them. The description META tag is one that can help the most.
My thoughts on this is that "It never hurts to have them" and they are not that much work to include them one every page. Just don't use the exact same keyword or description META tags for every page, they should match the content for the page they are on.
One thing that many miss, is that the <title> tag is important and should be unique for each page.

Maybe I will add them when I get my site verified and my php form mail working.. thanks..
I do have different titles for all my pages... I am an organization freak and that comes with the territory.
A couple of years ago, keywords were important. But so many people misused them, that most search engines pay little attention to them now. It doesn't hurt to have a few relevant keywords if they're not in your text.
