View Full Version : 10MB uploads?

In another thread I asked, "What exactly does the 10mb bandwidth limit mean?"

I was told, "The server will timeout at 10mb upload to keep it from getting tied up so other sites on the server will function."

What happens if I want to upload a 40MB file?! Will I never be able to upload it cause I'll keep getting cut off at 10MB? I plan to be putting several 20MB+ files on my site.

That depends... on what FTP software (program) that you will be using.

Most FTP programs have an auto-resume feature which will start the upload over at the point where it was interrupted.

You just have to check what you are using and make sure that it has that feature (most do).

The only one I can comment on is CuteFTP, as that is what I've used for years. It will auto-resume an interrupted download as well as do a manual resume if the connection is lost completely.

Thanks Jack. I knew that some FTP programs auto resume broken file transfers, I was just hoping that there was a way around having to do that.

Anyone know if Fetch 3 for the Mac auto resumes?

FYI: Anyone caught uploading individual files over 10 MB will be suspend or terminated.

Our developers are working on a program that will search and disable any and all accounts that have files (not including logs) over 10 MB is size.

What the...?! Nowhere on any of the pages describing the powweb package did it say THAT! Atleast not that I saw and I just read through the License again to check.

What's the good of a 200mb site if you can't put up a file over 10mb? I bought this site for the sole purpose of hosting my videos of motorcycle rides I go on with friends.

If this is true, then I seriously need to talk to someone about canceling my account and getting my money back! PLEASE tell me that it's not true. :(

I sincerely want to know who likes to share files over 10MB!
It mean that uncompressed is about 60 or more. I completely
agree with Powweb policy!

Things might be a bit different in the US, but in a non-fascist state like Australia, we would issue a warning to the offending account holder before we go pulling the plug on their service.

Well, if you don't like the way things are setup, than maybe PowWeb isn't the host for you.
