Well, I will admit right off the bat, I added some content to my site which was more popular than I was anticipating, and a surge of visitors appeared to flock to the site which hammered our bandwidth in about 8 hours. The site was taken down at around noon on May 14th, and I quickly removed a great deal of this added content (5/7th of it) via my FTP. I sent a e-mail to "abuse@powweb.com" and left for work, it appears that I got a e-mail from abuse at around 1:45PM that my http was reactivated. At 1:59 I got a e-mail saying that I was over... 5 GB in 14 minutes seems pretty excessive, especially considering I scaled it back so much, so I assume this was a smaller allotment. Anyway, I sent a e-mail to abuse that night asking what had happend and if the site could have its http reactivated, after I scaled back the added content even more to nearly non-existent. But never got a reply. I sent another e-mail after work today, almost 3 hours ago, and still have got no reply.

I hope not to sound rude, I realize the trouble I had caused in grossly underestimating the appeal of the content (although I'm not sure where the surge of visitors was coming from), but I would like a reply just to update me on what is happening with the site, as it has been down for 30+ hours now.

Thanks for your time.

Log in to your FTP and in there, below your htdocs directory you should have a log folder. This will give you the information requested.

You could also install AWstats or Webalizer through OPS or as custom install yourself. This would break down your site and let you "see" where the space hungry client is.

Well it appears the site went through almost, if not, 7000 MB of transfer on the 14th. Not sure which was after, so I guess it was 1880 MB in 14 minutes according to this? Which again, doesn't seem right unless we were getting hit HARD by visitors, even harder than the 8 hours previous. Either way, the 30+ hours of downtime should be sufficent, not to sound over exalted I hope, but I still haven't gotten a reply from powweb about it.

You could try the 800 number for them.

Does the location CA in your profile mean California, thats where Powweb is also. Then they can help you faster if email support is slow durning the weekend.

You can send e-mail to support@powweb.com - no guarantees, but that is staffed longer hours.
