View Full Version : webftp problems - cant go pass certain folders
Never have i had a problem of navigating through my directories/folders using webftp. Today i found that most folders i click onto, i get forwarded back to the root directory. There seems to be a bug of some kind, the folders that i can get into either have my whole root directories sitting in it which when i click on it, it just redirected me out to the root directory.
It's like looping and i cant get anywhere.
My website and forums are fine and i can access OPS etc no probs but what da!
WEIRD!!! PLEASE HELP!

WEIRD!!! PLEASE HELP! :confused:Which server are you on? I suggest that you report that kind of error direct to Powweb by raising a support ticket.
Yeh, the problem we had on WebFTP yesterday is back...
Internal 'cd' command is failing, I guess.
I can go to /htdocs, but if I try to go, let's say,
/htdocs/webstats, then I will be sent to / .
And the address bar shows "//webstats".
If I enter "/htdocs/webstats" in the address bar,
I can go into the correct directory.
So, WebFTP program has a bug that remove
"htdocs" (top level directory?).
Also, "Edit" link stopped to function...
While I was editing, it came back to normal
including "edit" link. :)
Maybe they were updating program...
[2nd edit]
It still has a tiny bug that shows double slash in the address bar,
after pushing "back" buttom at the root level,
and "change directory" into any sub dir..
It has no bad effect on any operation, and it disapears
on subsequest "cd". (Just a cosmetic bug)

I found out what was happenning.
The problem of WebFTP refusing to change directory
IS caused by the bug I wrote in the previous post.
Sometime, we can push "Back" button at top level.
And then, you can still go to fisrt level subdirectory,
like "/htdocs" and "logs".
But after that, if you try to go to 2nd level subdirectory,
you will get "//webstats" in the "cwd=" part of
query string, and you will be sent back to top directory..
To correct this situation, until WebFTP is debugged,
we can add "htdocs" or other 1st level subdirectory
missing between two slashes in the address bar,
and you can go into that directory.
But logout and re-login might be better as a walk around.
Logging out and re-login does not solve.
WebFTP remembers the session, I guess.
I closed browser, and re-entered WebFTP,
but it still retained "//"...
Ex.
What we see on the address bar at the top level:
https://webftp.powweb.com/?module=filemanager&cwd=/
After pushing "back" button at the top level, and changed into htdocs.
https://webftp.powweb.com/?module=filemanager&cwd=//htdocs
Trying to go into /htdocs/webstats...but it failes.
https://webftp.powweb.com/?module=filemanager&cwd=//webstats
Edit manually the address bar. And you can go into 2nd level.
https://webftp.powweb.com/?module=filemanager&cwd=/htdocs/webstats
The probelm vanished.
(It still shows "//htdocs", but I can go into subdir.)
I assume that Admin has fixed it.
If not, well, it's a really strange phenomena....

If not, well, it's a really strange phenomena....
Must be those UFOs in Mexico...
Wow! No kidding...it appeared, again!
UFOs must be sending pretty strong electro-psychic wave, today.
Still not working!
Has anyone tried a different ftp program? Does it work?
How do i raise a support ticket?
Well, it seems to be ok now...definately unstable!
Now it's not WORKING AGAIN!.
Not only that, my new uploads files all show zero sizes!
