View Full Version : SMTP Server
Hey all, I have been looking at SMTP servers to put on my machine. I am traveling some and don't have an ISP (using the schools network most of the time). SO, most of the time I know our web based e-mail here works fine. BUT, at times it doesn't. SO, I am thinking about installing an SMTP server on my computer. I have searched and seen LOTS available. Some say they will or wont work in this or that situation. SO I wanted to get anyones experiences here. Has anyone here used any? Can anyone here tell me ones that are good or bad? Thanks Ed
I've used PostCast Server (http://www.postcastserver.com/) and found it to be easy to setup and use.

Here's a second vote for PostCast.

Shoot, my luck. I tried and get errors. I am using a "Dell Inspiron 8200" 1.8 Gighz. 512mb RAM. It lets me install, but then when I try to run the program it pops up an error. I click "OK" then the program loads and shows another error. I click "OK" on that one and the program is locked. I have to use "End Task" to close it.
I took "Screen shots" of the two errors and stuck them in this folder.

Any ideas? Thanks again. Ed
Well, while you wait (I'm going to go and get the latest PostCast and load it), start looking around here:

I'll be back in 30 minutes (he says to himself... like any software install has ever taken less than 4 days :D )
I'm going to go get it, install it on this computer and see what happens. Hang in there.

NO SHOOT Dude, you don't need to go through the headache of trying it just to see! I was just asking if anyone had ALLready experienced the problem. And seen how to fix it for themselves. :(
Which version of Windows are you running? I've got my Post Cast installed on a Win 98se machine and it's working great.
Well bummer I guess it's not an unheard of error. I joined the postcast forum and found it there.

It seems to be working fine, I guess that's all that matters. Thanks again.
