thank you
WS_FTP PRO:
host name=asteroid.powweb.com
used id = i know this one
password = " " " "
account =
fire wall = none
local folder =
comment =
where do i enter my (domain name,or profile name) ?
host type?
Hi robi
I use WS-FTP Pro and have little more than you do filled in.
You have the hostname written correctly.
Make sure you are using the correct user id. Some people dont set up the same one for their OPS panel and FTP. So be sure you are using the one you selected for your FTP.
Password...well I hope you know your password.
You should have "Passive Mode" checked.
You do not need more than that, really. That is enough to connect you to your site. You can browse for the local folder on the left window of WS-FTP, or you can try entering a location for it in the Local Folder window like this:
C:\My Documents\My Webs\My spectacular website
Obviously, substitute the proper location of your site files.
As for comment? I dont know. Mine is left blank. But I mutter comments under my breath all the time.
I have no entries for domain name, profile name or host type, and mine works just fine.
Hope this helps.

Dale,
I use the WS_FTP_LE elcheapo version. In the pro version would (add) account be the same as add new user feature in free version?
Dale,
Little confused when you say ftp id.My id will be the one that i used to set up my powweb package?? Or are you saying that ftp id and the powweb id are one and the same??
Robi
When you originally signed up here, you create 2 sets of usernames/passwords, one for OPS and another for FTP. You'll need to use your FTP username/Password for FTP.
Hope that clears this up!

Hi Alpha. I dont have the time right now to d/l WS-FTP LE to see what you mean. Hopefully this will help.
When you open my WS-FTP app, you have the connection window open over the main transfer FTP window. There is a place to enter the FTP information as I described to Robi, and there is also a series of checkboxes...Anonymous, Save Password, and Save account. If you fill in your FTP info like I described and check "SAVE ACCOUNT" then it will add the site to the MySites folder inside the WS-FTP directory.
The Connection window has a browser window on the left, and defaults to all the folders inside the WS-FTP directory. Also by default, the MySites folder is opened and lists all the websites you have saved FTP info about. I just highlight the site I intend to connect to and the information comes up in the appropriate boxes. I never leave passwords on My computer, so all I need to enter is My password, hit the CONNECT button, and I am in.
I hope this answered your question
Dale
Actually, the best items to use for host name are as follows:
server.powweb.com (where server is the server you're on)
ftp.yoursite.com
Hope this helps!
Alphadesk,
I've got a Tutorial up for WS_FTP LE showing the items needed at the U.P.S. site.
Hi robi
Yes, you were asked to create two sets of username/password when you signed up for Powweb. I am guessing you know your OPS username and password.
With that, go to the OPS page:
https://ops.powweb.com
Log in using your OPS username and password, then go to the FTP tab. There, you will see a category called "Master FTP Account". It shows the FTP username, but not your password. If you dont remember what password you used, just click on the the blue "password" link there and make yourself a new password. It is that easy.
Hope this helps.

Ok,
So the only difference is once you have added account is that Pro opens up window with all accounts showing and LE has a drop down box.
