View Full Version : Photography Website Review
Hi,
The new version of my wife's website is up and I am looking for some constructive criticism. Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks.
Nice design and easy to navigate with some great examples of her photographic talent.
Now for the "however's"
Have you looked at the site in 1024x768 resolution? Sure looks odd with all the empty space on the right and bottom.
It would be nice to state what city and state the business is located in, unless the visitor just happens to be in the 403 area code, they'd have no idea about where you are located.
You might also want to include some copyright information on the pages.
Thanks for the tips.
I really need to get the copyright stuff on there. I am not sure what I will do about viewing the site at 1024x768. I might try to centre the whole page and see how that looks.
Very well designed and organized website. There isn't much of anything to critique on.
As you mentioned, you might want to try centering the layout. It doesn't look bad in 1280 x 1024, but I think it might look better if it were centered.

I agree with the other comments. You may want to mention the geographic location in which you work. I believe you are from Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Are your prices in U.S. or Canadian dollars? Do you work in the U.S. and Canada?
I guess I should have read the text, but I was enjoying the pictures. Yes, you are from Alberta, Canada. How nice. Who took the photo of you? You are very beautiful. Hey, guys! Check out the About Kelly page! ;)
I normally wouldn't like gray for a website, but since the images must be the main focus, the background color must not compete. There is no link to the home page, no copyright info at the bottom of each page, no meta contents (yet), and no text on the home page to help search engines list your site under the appropriate keyword searches. You may also want a links page to exchange links with sites that have a similar target audience.
Good luck with your site. I really enjoyed the pictures! :)

Not much to comment on except for a few things I would change and stuff I wouldn't change.
- Please keep the layout/position the same. I run multiple resolutions and I find no problems with the layout. Centering it would destroy the design, imho.
- Loading time. I find that you are looking for too much quality on the main page. I'm sure that a dialup or ISDN user would be long gone before the whole page has finished loading.
- In the status bar, maybe you should spell out 'Phone' for simple consistency with the word 'Fax' and the contact information page.
- Something else that urks me, is that your logo is not proportionally set in the top left corner. It was most likely done intentionally that way, but for me consistency is key.

Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it. I will have to get some text on the main page in order to get more information to first time viewers and to help search engines find the site.
Thanks again.
