Only those that know...know. ;)
PowWeb is always improving their service, so only time will tell.
Only those that know...know.Now that is a profound and definitive response that you just cannot argue with :D

Yes I can!
No! No! No!
You're just contradicting me!
No I'm not!
You did just there!
No I didn't....
When will PowWeb increase storage again?
Why do you require more space?

I supposed I could start trashing my site but yes, I'm down to less than 150 meg available... an increase in size will be welcome when it gets here.
haha... actually i just used up 10~20% of my space.... :D
You need more disk space? What are you storing on your site? :)
Buy another package and talk to tech support about being a sub domain under your regular domain
For example:
Your domain is http://www.myplace.com
Your new package could be http://mybigfiles.myplace.com
At least this would save you from purchasing another domain and would make any scripting/linking changes pretty easy.
Of course more space is always cool, but Powweb gives a lot already for a cheap price.

13mb - cgi-bin
40mb - actual files just being "stored"
60mb - sub directories, sites I'm doing for other people
4mb - freestyle bikes
55mb - inline skaters
115mb - site related videos
61mb - a video project I'm working on
20mb - stored files waiting for posting on the site
4mb - "phototricks" - animated gifs, stacked images, etc.
15mb - projects such as flash and other multimedia I'm toying with for the site
60mb - skateboard
24mb - skiboard
23mb - skiboard (copy as I'm rewriting the pages - so I don't screw up)
40mb - ski
45mb - snowboard
12mb - test directory for a thumbnailing script
42mb - real good originals (no "originals" are kept for the most part)
100mb - project for my brother
10mb - base files for site
hmmm that's 743mb but I've got more than that on the site... that's just things I also have local copies of. I don't know what I've forgotten to synchronize; but, as you can see the space is NOT being wasted.

what a diplomatical answer
Buy another package and talk to tech support about being a sub domain under your regular domain...At least this would save you from purchasing another domain...Every package has to have a domain name associated with it.
but you could easily just use a subdomain of your existing domain... you wouldn't have to worry about registering or changing a domain's registrtaion information either!

Who knows, an archive search turned up these past diskspace upgrades:
02-22-02 - 100MB to 200MB - disk upgrade.. (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=1913)
01-03-03 - 250MB to 500MB - PowValue Package Upgrade! (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=14221)
05-29-03 - 500MB to 650MB - PowWeb Package Upgrade (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=21219)
10-06-03 - 650MB to 1000MB - Package Upgrade (1,000 MB disk space!) (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=26968)
At that rate, we could be at 2GB pretty soon, if those who know would let us know. :D

Just curious, how much space are other people using? Myself, I have only 32mb in use, and that's with over 3000 files (although many of them are for my forum, as I only have 700 local files). 1000mb of storage is impressive, to be sure, but unless I start hosting videos I can't imagine using very much of it. If many people are like me, powweb could raise the limit to 2000mb tomorrow and it really wouldn't make much of a difference to their server load.
Frankly, I'm more impressed by the 5 free mysql databases. Not that I'm using that many. . . yet.

So far I just have my blog up.
16.89 MB and 1343 Files

My guess: Many people are like us, and powweb don't really have 1GB per user on their disks :)

Just like banks don't have enough money to cover everyone's deposits. You only need what the business requires. It would be interesting to know, but I bet it is a very small percentage of the customers who use over 100Meg and an even much much much smaller number coming close to the max.
we have some people who still hit their quotas! and then they try and use FrontPage... =)
While it is true that the majority of users do not take advantage of the full storage capacity of their accounts, we still have a very large amount of available space in reserve on the file servers.
About two thirds of our clients are on the distributed services systems, and storage space has never been an issue. And since adding more space as it becomes necessary is a simple matter, it never will be an issue.
As for if/when the per account limit will be raised, I can't say. Honestly, we haven't seen much demand for more than a gigabyte of space. But I'm sure at some point it will be increased, and of course you'll be the first to know.
It's funny to think back six or seven years ago, and remember that the typical hosting account industry-wide was right around $1 per megabyte a month, and accounts as low as $7.77 a month were virtually unheard of ("You can't make any profit doing that! Are you crazy?!"). A gig of space back then would have probably run you a few hundred dollars a month - if you could find someone to provide it. ;)

Well I have 178mb used but most of that is the 1000+ pictures in my gallery - on the personal family site. The rest is a links directory, web ring, expression engine and my databases.

Where do I go to find out how much storage space I'm using.
(i've been looking in OPS for an hour now)
I think I'm at the 1,000 mb limit :(
NEVERMIND...
I just found it
Used 860.15 MB / 4823 Files
and that was AFTER deleting a bunch of stuff
I would like to see the limit on the file count increased, since I think it's easier to exceed 25,600 files than it is to hit 1000 MB of disk space.
That's the case with me, but I won't complain if storage is increased too! :)
The limit was already increased earlier this year, from 15,000. I would imagine that if the storage limit were increased in the future, the file limit might also get increased.

Most of my stuff is pictures, so number of files doesn't help me.

Right now I'm using 943.09 MB / 25356 Files and am hoping powweb increases something soon(which I know they won't probably). Front page works fine and dandy for me, even with 25K files.

On the Website > FTP tab.
Get Gallery (http://gallery.sourceforge.net/) and watch your space disappear. It's just too nice to have high-res images instantlly accessible from anywhere.

I've got a /load/ of pictures on my site... yay...
more space would be nice. but i'm not complaining.

Or get 4images or something similiar, use a mySQL database, and watch over 900 pictures only take up 1.6 mb... ;)

I've used almost half my space already... And I've only had my account for 2 months! lol
But I'm not going to complain, PowWeb gives the most space that I have seen for this price. Many will give you something like 50mb for 9.99/month and pretend like it's a good deal.
What I want to know is, will PowWeb start selling dedicated servers ;)

What I want to know is, will PowWeb start selling dedicated servers ;)I seriously doubt it. PowWeb's niche is in the shared hosting market.
http://www.4homepages.de/4images/download.php
hmm, it's still the same and not save any space...
660.22 MB / 15186 Files
4 MySQL DBs (one is really not being used).
I would be more than happy to buy another package to get another Gig of Storage, however, I need the storage associated with my current package. I'm using a CMS (CPG-Nuke) and I don't believe it would understand a subdirectory association just for my pictures.
551.65 MB / 9677 Files
2 MySQL databases, but one isn't currently hooked up to its script
I think 300 meg of that is a set of high res hockey pics I could kill if I ever needed the space. Anything else would require more careful consideration.
I find Powweb to be a very good bang for the buck.

some webhost allows you 2 merge 2 accounts into one like buy 2 packages with 1GB and 5gb/DAY and combine it under one user as 2GB storage and 10gb/day but im not sure if powweb offers that.
or maybe it's time to just clean your website? ;)
PS that also applies to BW, i highly doubt everybody uses 5GB/day ;)

No, you cannot combine two pacakges.
Imagine the possibilities if you could...you'd have more bandwidth than Santa Claus. *drools* :)
