MySQL learning curve

Slowly but surely my site is getting more page views. Because its an animal site there is lots of pictures, and I add more from time to time.

#1...Knowing nothing about MySQL only its a database, where can I find out what advantages there is to using it.

#2...Does it cut down on the bandwidth you use,at present I am using 100mbs a day?

#3...Do you have to be a computer wiz to learn...

1. Database has the advantages of being a database. Umm makes things managable.
2. Nope. Purely to keep things organised.
3. Nope. I'm a dope but managed to get everything working by hanging out here and reading what the experts have to say.
