I noticed that a thread I had started (#37882) has been closed by someone. Why is that being done?? That discussion wasn't finished yet...

Threads can be closed by Powweb staff but it is more likely that a moderator for that forum decided it was too far off topic, offensive in some way, the thread hasn't had any posts for a long time or broke the rules in some other way. It would have been useful for the person closing the thread to have posted an explanation at the end of it and then closing it so that those taking part can know what 'offense' has taken place.

Is this the thread? http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=35960&highlight=evert

If so I'd guess it was closed because it was about a specific problem and posting to the thread stopped in April, 2 months ago. Anyone posting with a similar problem should be starting their own thread or contacting support.

Well, as far as I can see the thread is on-topic (Greylisting) from beginning to end. And whoever closed it did not post a reason for it...

Here's the thread: http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=37882

Because it was inconvenient - before the ability to turn off Greylisting in Ops was added, James repeatedly said that anyone could email him and he'd to it for them. I pointed out that James' profile says "this user in not accepting emails". In response to that, James closed the thread. It's called customer service, USA style ;)

Then I'll just have to add my addition here...

When Greylisting was enabled in OPS it was automatically turned on for everyone, including the people for who James had turned it of earlier, because they'd requested it! I'm glad I noticed it in time...

I guess that's also customer service, USA-style? :p

I see what you mean now. He literally spelled it out! I was looking to send email via the normal forums route, which is what I assumed he meant. Fair enough!

Understandable. :)

Gotta keep those email address harvesters at bay, which more than likely is why he didn't post his email address as email@domain.com format.
