Hello Everyone!
I'm having a really hard time putting up the first page of my site. Can anyone help me please??
Thank you,
C
Um, what have you tried and what isn't working for you? The usual things people need to know first are that the files should go in the htdocs folder (and any subfolders you choose to create), and that you need to remove the placeholder index.htm file that PowWeb creates for you.

I uploaded my pictures into the ftp folders. What am I doing wrong? I made the first page, but it's saved as a doc in my computer. I'm totally lost.

Which FTP folder? For your files to work, you have to have them in the 'htdocs' folder - and save your .doc as a .html and upload it into the 'htdocs' directory.

FTP folder that's under my user name. I have no idea where the htdocs directory is. This is my first time doing a website. So I'm totally lost.
When you ftp to your space, you should see several folders already there. One of them is htdocs. Your website documents go in that folder.
What are you using to develop web pages? If you are saving a .doc file I am guessing word? You need to do "save as web page" from the file menu. But I strongly suggest you not develop web pages in word.

...But I strongly suggest you not develop web pages in word.Thats for sure. Use notepad.. or if you're really lost borrow someone else's index.html and modify it.

I'm still totally lost. I don't know anything about html. I wish someone can do it for me. :p. I have no idea what I'm using to save them as. They're just saved. Like I said, I have no clue what I'm doing. Do I have to install the Microsoft Front Page Extensions? I have Front Page 2003.
Curious... then why did you buy a domain? How have you been creating your website before this?

I've been using geocities. They have a page builder on there. So you take it for granted. I sure did.
Ah, I thought it would be something like that.
I learned html from htmlgoodies.com. Also, when you FTP, if there are no folders there, just create an 'htdocs' folder and upload your stuff there. That's what I had to do.
Find a good book - intro to websites or intro to html. A few hours spent there will save you lots of frustration. If you have FP, then use it and get FP for Dummies or something like that.

Again I agree.. while it's not the ideal editor, if you have FrontPage use it.
Yes, enable FP extensions in OPS and use the help files in FP 2003 to get started.
If you have trouble there is a helpful FrontPage section on this forum.

I tried to install Front Page extensions, but it's not letting me. I guess I'll put away for awhile untill I buy HTML For Dummies. :)
