Can't Get It To Go...

I received the go ahead from powweb.com to upload my site today, so I logged in with the directions provided, and uploaded my site, but absolutely no luck...I still get the asteroid.powweb.com window coming up on my domain.

I noticed in the FAQs that there are supposed to be 4 folders in the root directory of my account, but there was nothing, so I created them and then put all the website stuff in the htdocs folder.

Still no luck...

What am I doing wrong?

Your site is uploaded and there, just that your coding needs some work.

No one can access your site with things like
<EMBED SRC="file:///D|/pixelperfectsite/pixelperfectintro.swf"

and file:///D|/pixelperfectsite/index1.htm" in the coding as paths to your files.

When anyone clicks on the "Enter" it takes them to "D:\pixelperfectsite\index1.htm"

Make sure the path to your files are either using the full url for them or you can use the root "/" and whatever folder that you have after that ie. "/images/"

And you should not have had to create the htdocs, etc, cgi-bin or logs directories, they "should" have already been in place.?????

That's what I was trying to test for...

Of course it's working for me now, too...still don't know what was wrong.

Now I guess I get to fix it...

It's all working fine now (and I fixed the links, too!)...thanks for the assistance, whoever actually fixed it. :)

Don't know just when you got your domain setup with Powweb, but it does take anywhere from 12 to 72 hours (and sometimes much longer) for the DNS to propagate across the Internet.

Sometimes a person somewhere else will be able to see a newly registered (or moved) domain long before the owner does. And that's only because of the time it takes for each ISP or server to update their DNS database files.

Glad that you can see your site now, and as you say.. Now you get to fix it so it's all working. So much fun sometimes, isn't it!
