After reading through these threads and many others, i have been getting ideas for future expansion of my web site. Since no one ever has the exact same problem, it can get confusing about what is allowed and what is not allowed and the fees.
Here is a pretend situation:
Suppose i have three domains: anydomain.net, anydomain.com, and anydomain.org. Now supposed i want all three of these sites to go to the same files (uploaded only once per update). Can i do that with only one hosting account? (1 charge of 7.77 a month)?
Any other fees invovled in that situation?
Now suppose i had another domain, newdomain.com.
Suppose i wanted it to point to a subdirectory of the aboe domain (such as anydomain.com/newdomain or, using subdomains, newdomain.anydomain.com) so that when the user typed newdomain.com, the page loaded would be anydomain.com/newdomain.
I would also have a ling to these pages on the anydomain.com site. Can this be done with the same single hosting package or would i need to purchase a second hosting package? Again, any other fees involved if i also wanted newdomain.net and newdomain.org to point to newdomain.com?
The reason i ask is that i hope to several related organizations, but would like seperate domain names for each. I also only want to upload the files once.
Hope i explained this clearly. My website should be back up this weekend, so i can give a more specific example as to what i would prefer then. You could see my page and understand what i want

As I understand things (and I would not take this as gospel) you can:
Create subdomains like anotherpart.mysite.com and using htaccess, direct someone calling that address to a folder within mysite.com. This will not cost you anything extra.
You can also use htaccess to direct incoming calls for other domains to folders within mysite.com. But, like your examples of other domains, mysite.net mysite.org, and newdomain.com, there is a charge for having each of them pointing to your original domain.
Hope that helps, and hope someone corrects me if I am giving you the wrong information here.

I believe that you can have up to 15 total domains pointing to the SAME set of files, but if you try to point a domain to a subfolder, it will not work. So in your situation, you would, I believe, need 2 different accouns, one for anydomain.com, .net, and .org, and one for newdomain.com, .net and .org.
Hope this clears it up!
From what I understand, you can have a total of 15 domains pointed to your domain. Such as your example, you could have anydomain.net / .com / .org, all pointing to the same domain account.
The cost for doing this is (I believe) a one time setup fee of $25 for each domain you point to that account.
Just my "For What It's Worth"
You can point yoursite.com .net .org all to the same account, using the same index.html. If you wish to have yourothersite.com setup, you'd need a separate account for this. PowWeb offers you the ability to have several domains under one account, but only one site under that account.
Now if you have several sites, let's say, that were all related, such as the example below, you might be able to use the same account:
If you have a company that has offices in L.A., NYC and Chicago, and each office wants its own site, you might be able to get around the separate account issue. Simply setup the main domain, yoursite.com as the main office, and subdomains for the other two offices.
While essentially this would be three "separate" sites, they'd be for the same company.
Remember now, I'm just helping out here and my thoughts might not actually be the most accurate.

Here's what I did. I have my main site - berkswebguy.com - but I also have - horsepill.com - pointing to a sub-page under the same account. You can point any name.com to the main account. If you want them pointing to another page or folder...you need to do a little work.
Good Luck
Okay, this brings up a question. I have seen this second domain thing pointing to subfolder brought up before, and the response has been that it isn't "supported" by Powweb, but links were given telling how to do it (not by powweb employees)... Is this actually that it isn't allowed at Powweb? I know there are ways to get around this...my question is, is this grounds for termination?

Refering to my previous reply...you can point a name.com to a sub-page or folder. As far as I know...Powweb does not support it, but definently allows it. I use .htaccess for my site. It just tells the browser to go to a sub page or folder when a certain address is entered.
Yes, thank you Berks...I had read your reply...It seems that the response has changed...where before it was "Powweb doesn't support it", now it is more like "Powweb does not allow it", even changed in the FAQ. That's a big difference...just want clarification from someone who may know the answer.
Per the FAQs about pointing a domain to a subfolder of the first:
"No, we cannot point a second domain name to a different folder in your main account. Our domain name pointing service will point the second domain name to the same index.html page of the main website. We do not offer multiple domain name hosting under one package."
It states that they cannot do it because they don't offer it. I think that if they don't want users to do this, the wording shoud be changed to something like "We do not allow multiple domain hosting under one package".
I've learned that most of the time when it reads PowWeb doesn't support it, it should actually read PowWeb doesn't offer support for it. The FAQs seem to not be worded exactly as I think that they were intended to be worded.
Hope this helps!
