View Full Version : Be careful how you name your images!

Recently, I was designing my new site when I discovered a strange phenomenon. Images that I used name under "banner.gif" could not be viewed on my computer after being uploaded onto the server - but could be viewed when not uploaded.

Similarly, I also noticed that other people's banners with words like "spam_ etc. could not be displayed either. I'm not sure what other kind of words used for the image will cause the image not to be displayed.

Strangely enough, while I can't view these on one of my computers, I could view it on all my other computers.

After changing the name of the images, I could view them all.

The only explanation is that perhaps my SPAMKILLER program from McAfee is causing this strange phenomenon. Anyone else is using the SPAMKILLER and is experiencing the same thing?

Could there be any reason why this is happening?

WOW!! What a list!

Thanks for sharing. I initially tried changing the content settings, the privacy settings, the security settings on my computer - but none works, so I thought it must have been the work of my SpamKiller.

Interestingly enough, I joined the affiliate of a Spam company and some of their banners and the html codes would not appear on this particular computer of mine while it shows OK on all the others. Hmmm ... I wonder what I'm missing all these while. Hopefully nothing important.
