Hello Powweb,

I am starting my new website, using your powweb package of course.
I eventually would like to expand my package to accomodate 3-5 MM users or more per month. I read before that your basic package is 12GB bandwidth. I understood that this means I could have 1 MM visitors who download a 12K page.

My question is, is there a limit on how many GB bandwidth I can have on my account? Also am I assuming correctly when I view you charge $8/ Extra Gig and that it is a one time charge? For example if I wanted to increase my pack by 100GB bandwidth, I would be charged a one time $800 fee to achieve this? Or would there also be a monthly fee?

Thanks for answering my questions in advance, I do have one more small one, I could not find where to order more Gigs bandwidth in my OPS page. Could you direct me to which links I should go to?

Thanks again for an excellent hosting package at an affordable price!

Regards,
LCPS

To start with, the bandwidth has been upgraded to 16GBs. This means that on a 16k page, you can get 1 Million visitors.

extra bandwidth is charged $8 per GB over the original 16GBs, on a monthly basis. Per the FAQs about bandwidth abuse:

"Any site that uses over 1 GB per day fits into this category. Users that use over 1 GB per day are handled on a case by case basis.
It is at the sole discretion of Powweb if we choose to hosts sites that have such extreme resource needs."

You don't order more bandwidth. Here's yet another one of the FAQs for reference:

"Should your account begin to use over 600 MB per day (which equates to 18 gigs per month), you will receive an e-mail letting you know of your bandwidth usage.
You will also be required to sign and fax back a form stating you are aware of and agree to our policy regarding the 16 gig monthly bandwidth restriction.

Should you fail to comply with this request, your account could be suspended and/or terminated."

Hope this helps!

Hello Powweb,

Thanks for your reply.

So I gather from your reply that if I want over 16GB bandwidth I should use another service?

The reason I ask is, I read the FAQ information you made referrence to, but those posts make it sound as if my account may be terminated for going over my limits.

So what your saying is if my requirements go over 16GB bandwidth I will have to sign a letter that I understand your terms and you will charge me an extra $8/gig over 16? But I can not order more GB bandwidth.

If you go over 600MBs in a day, you'll recieve an email with a form you'll need to print, sign and fax back to PowWeb stating that you agree to pay $8 for every GB over 16 your site uses. You cannot purchase "extra" bandwidth.

You site can still go over the 16GBs, but you'll only be charge for what you go over by the GB.

Hope this makes sense.
