You know how angelfire and geocities includes stuff somehow into all of their clients pages? Anyone know how they do that?

Can you be more specific??? Do you mean web-page communities, or mail, or programs...what do you mean?

doh, I guess my mind wondered off somehow :P What I meant was how they add the ads into their clients pages with some sort of script or application running or something.

There are tons of banner rotation scripts. This is what they use. And this is what alot of private web sites use. Big communties like GeoCities and Tripod have then dynamically generated on certain pages on their server (free pages). But you can add them to your site using Perl/CGI. It automatically rotates selected banners on a site.
