Opinions and Advice please?

Hey Guys,

was wondering if you could give me your opinion on the layout and general design of my web site.

It's not finished yet (obviously) but any comments/advice would be great.

Tested in IE6 56k modem 800x600. Graphics slow to load. Forum doesn't seem to work. Its getting there. Good luck with it.

I have reduced the image sizes by more than half, hope this helps.

I expected a black background for gothware. The fonts are very appropriate. The grey text on black is difficult to read. The picture at the top looks neat. None of the links work so we are basically looking at the home page. Clicking the news headlines allows the visitor to post a reply. I didn't post one, though.

It looks interesting so far. After the contents are added, that is when we can really make comments.

Alright thanks a lot. Yeah basically I just needed feedback on the design/color scheme. I'll take the comment on grey text into consideration.

I'll repost the site when we have all content up :)

I have to agree the grey should mb be... FAFAFA/F8F8F8 instead, and off-white but that grey is a bit dark. Anyway as to 56k, personally i stopped designing for it and don't consider 800 by 600 anymore.

Now to the site, the text in the graphics is great, I love the banner and the gothic text, very nice. However i was disapointed to see that you didn't carry over the layout and nav buttons to the forums and gallery. I think your index navigation is graphically and visually suppior. So consider modding out the fourms and gallery even more. Otherwise great site, love the graphics again and looks good. Oh and i guest noticed your themes for your forums, so mb don't take my advise above, however mb consider to theme the entire site with the white theme as well? :)

nice use of color, pulling yellow from header gfx to use as subject headers, nice to see a little color through the site, a lot of people would have gone with a more subdued look, which makes yours stand out more.

the header gfx is great, there is a lot of emotion in it, though a bit large, might try making the headers on other pages smaller, like the one from the forum. also the forum header could some color to reflect the index page. maybe not full color, but some in the logo or behind the spire?

i didn't think the copy was hard to read, but noticed in mozilla some copy gets pushed up next to images, looks good in ie though. let us know when you get more content in and we can see how the site fully runs.

you have a lot of extra gfx competing for attention, header/top sites/affiliates/powweb/affiliate with us, plus the site of the month & forum gfx. there is a lot going on here and you may consider toning some of it down, just to reduce the clutter.

overall looks great, let us know when the content is loaded up.
