View Full Version : deleting a mySQL database and creating a new one
i need to eradicate an old database i have and set up a new one.Where in ops do i go to do this?
Why not simply drop all tables?
To answer your question, I don't think you can delete a database. You can rename it on the Website>MySQL tab.
so renaming will allow new data to overwrite all old data or is it just zeroed with the new name?and if not how do i create a new one?
Renaming does simply that - renames it. It will not empty your database. Use phpmyadmin to do that.

If you want to completely delete a database email the support technicians at support@powweb.com and give them the last 4 digits of your credit card number along with the database name.
But like the other user said, if you just want to rename it and clear all the data that's a lot easier.
Rename it like he said the to clear all the time just select all the tables in it and click "delete" in the "with select.." drop down menu.
Or just drop them all. Whatever floats your boat.
I've been messing up with databases and users at powweb after registering when came to conclusion that i'll need only one database. But as you guess, I've created several databases before. Right now I use only one DB and want to know how can i drop unneccessary databases I've created earlier? (no tables, no users - just an empty database. do i need to e-mail to staff or somthing)?
Don't worry about them. Just leave them and forget you have them.
