View Full Version : Is mail05 having problems?

For some reason I suddenly can't send any e-mail.
I can still receive it though.
If you are using an email client (not webmail) and have never successfully sent email through the account, the most likely problem is authentication. You must have your email client set up as "My server requires authentication" or what ever similar control it has. The smtp server uses the same authentication as your pop server, so there is usually no need to enter the username and password a second time.
If you have been successfully sending email, check OPS on the SMTP tab to be sure the account sending the email is listed and marked as an owner of the email address being used

I have been using it just fine. It's just suddenly that it's not working, why I thought there might be a problem.

Make sure you have SMTP server authentication enabled. Also, try port 587 for SMTP instead of 25.

That worked (changing the port), thank you.
Don't know why this problem suddenly started, but atleast it works now.
Thanks again.

It started because your ISP began blocking port 25. That's a commonality now. Mine (Cox Communications) has been doing this for well over a year now.
