I noticed powweb launched their affiliate program and are giving $65 per new account you send to them which is a great price, BUT why is there a minimum of $200 before the check gets sent out? Unless you own a website that is aimed towards webmasters, websites, etc most sites aren't going to "sell" that many of these accounts. It's ridiculous that you can send powweb three new accounts and then have that money sitting in there forever after that because they will only send out checks after $200.
I could understand $50, but $200?
I think that is obvious. You get your money after you sell 3. They will not have to pay out for sites that get a lucky sale or two. One way to make the per site payout larger.

Actually...not until you sell 4...so it adds more motivation.
65x3=195 = not quite 200

Oops . . . :o
I gave it a shot and see if it works :)
sometimes, the amount of money never reach $200 to expect a check sent out...?

Not for less than $200
I asked this and nobody answered me:
$65? That is more than the cost of a quarterly package ($43.31) already. What can keep someone from earning money by going to different computers and use the same affiliate account to order many quarterly packages (and just set it to non-renewal)?

Hi flit,
So far we haven't ran into that problem yet. Remember commissions are only paid to new accounts and we have an excellent reporting system in place. If this becomes a problem, we will have to set other guidelines in the future.
Remember, the $15 referral program remains in place as well, so if you don't expect to get four or more referrals in a reasonable amount of time, the referral plan may better suit your needs. The credits are more immediate (after the referred account has been active for more than 30 days), you can take advantage of them on a less frequent basis, and your own new accounts qualify for credit (they do not qualify under the affiliate program).
The affiliate program is geared toward higher traffic sites with a larger audience. Of course it is still open to anyone who wishes to join.
As for potential abuse, I think it would be difficult to consistently find enough people to open new accounts (and then let them lapse, taking the sites offline) to really exploit the system. And as Andrew mentioned, we have a tracking system in place, so that kind of repeated behavior would not go unnoticed.
Overall I think the new affiliate program is one of the best out there, and we're glad to be able to offer it to you. We're always working on ways to provide greater value and opportunities to PowWeb users.
I have a question about the Affiliate Program. I registered on 9/13/04 and was approved. I'm putting up 1,000-1,500 page views per day that contain an impression of at least one of the PowWeb affiliate ads, yet so far in the traffic statistics at affiliates.powweb.com, the most that shows for a single day is just 3 impressions.
This makes me wonder:
(1) Did I configure the code incorrectly?
(2) Is PowWeb's tracking software not yet recording all impressions?
(3) Still working the bugs out?
(4) If by some miracle I make a referral sale, would it get properly recorded?
Just thinking out loud. Any comments? Thanks.

We are not tracking "impressions" as in who viewed the banner. Our tracking is "who" clicked the banner and are they a unique "clicker" (raw) or the same visitor (Impression). These are more vital statistics. They can help you tweak your banner placement, banner type, location, etc....
As you mentioned, you already know how many people "view" your page. Our stats will tell you how many of them actually clicked the banner.
I hope this helps.

Yeah, it sure does. Very informative! Thank you, sir!

Many I know why sometimes I see [ Referer blocked ] on the stats ?

I would guess because many firewalls and some browser configurations block referer.
Oh, yes I did have firewall installed.
