I imagine that it does have all of these requirements, but I just thought I'd check:
Server requirements
Web server with support for PHP version 4.0.6 or better.

Your php.ini should match the following requirements:
a. track_vars is enabled.
b. safe_mode is disabled
c. file_uploads is enabled
c. register_long_arrays is enabled (PHP 5)

(all these values are default)
For help on this visit the PHP site at http://www.php.net.

The web server must have support for MySQL database version 3.23 or better. You will need to have access to MySQL database, i.e. to know the MySQL server name, database name, username and password for MySQL access.

The server performance, recommended for X-Cart to be run on, depends on the number of visitors your store will have. Unpacked distribution of X-Cart requires about 3 megabytes of disk space, but you may need more if you are going to use additional files and custom templates for X-Cart.

The database size used by X-Cart depends on the number of products, customers and orders stored in it. For example, for small shops it may be 1 megabyte, for medium 10, and for huge stores over 100 megabytes.

Net::SSLeay perl module, CURL executable or libCURL module is required for some of the online credit card processing modules and for UPS shipping module.

EXPAT extension for PHP is required for Intershipper, UPS or USPS shipping modules.

NetSSLeay or CURL or libCURL is required for UPS shipping module.

PHP function "exec()" must be allowed for correct working of the most CC payment processing modules (including PayPal), real-time shipping calculations (excluding FedEx) and the patch/upgrade feature.

The above requirements are usually met by all web hosting service providers. You can contact your provider for more details

For most of those, you can check the php info file for your server at http:// yourservername .powweb.com/phpinfo.php.

And if you're not a customer yet, pick a server such as www05.

I don't know the answers to all your questions.
