I created a favicon.ico file and uploaded it binary to my htdocs folder and the root folder.

However, in Internet explorer I tried to bookmark my page and no icon appeared next to the mark. What am I doing wrong?

my picture is 16x16. Do I have to put something within the pages?

Thanks
Ryan

If you are meaning the little green trash can for your canmag site, it's working just fine (in FireFox).

IE sometimes requires that you clear your cache and then bookmark the site, even then it will not always show at first.

Yep, IE Favicon support sucks. Even if you have it in favorites, whenever your browser cache is cleared the icon goes away too. :( Would be nice if IE finally got around to fixing this. At least NS, Mozilla, and FireFox users will see that you took the time to create a Favicon.

What makes it even odder, is that the favicon was first introduced for IE only. Favicon means "Favorites Icon", but yet IE is the worst one for dealing with a favicon.

FavOrg (http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/18699.asp) is a *free* program that will find and store all of your Favorites icons so that IE will display them even if you clear your cache. (the site is not English, but the program does support English)

I have the favicon appearing now in IE. However, I did clear my cache before attempting to 'add to favorites' and none of my other bookmarks lost their icons...

could this problem have been fixed?

Thanks

I was seeing my icon in the address bar also, now it is just in my favorites.
