View Full Version : Internal Server Error, random.
mysql05.powweb.com
www03.powweb.com
Totally random, whatever I am using, be it phpmyadmin or Zen Cart or whatever, I get internal server errror, between 1 in 3 and 1 in 10 pages, never the same page twice, the logs say "premature end of script headers".
WTF??

Provide a sample url of the page generating the error. It sounds like there might be an error on one of your scripts. Which requests are generating the "premature end of script headers" error? (ie. paste one of the lines from your error log).

Sorry, my fault, I'm not sure I clearly explained myself first time round.
By "random", I mean "in no pattern, or order, at any time, due to any request",ie: randomly.
By "the logs say 'premature end of script headers'", I meant:
[Mon Nov 22 17:12:48 2004] [error] [client x.x.x.x] Premature end of script headers: /powweb/web/cgi-bin/php4
I can't really offer you any more links than the site itself: http://www.funnfrolic.co.uk/ : the phpmyadmin is a totally standard install of phpmyadmin, but behind an .htaccess protected area.
It could be right for 10 pages in a row, then throw the error - reload the page, and it is fine.
You might go back to one of the other pages that worked before, and it will cause an error.
Nothing that isn't connected to a database seems to be affected. Which makes me think that some interaction between mysql05.powweb.com, www03.powweb.com and the load balancing is causing this, as it has only happened since load balancing came in.
And still doing it, and still costing us money (apart from the hours of programmer time ensuring our code complies with Powweb's "unique" approach to sessions and load balancing).
And it does, and still the errors come randomly, and still the logs say "premature end of script headers", and still there is no solution.
After only 129 hours in the support queue and 2 chasing emails, I got the following reply (in case it helps anyone else with same problem on www03):
It appears that one of the servers in the cluster that you bleong to was not configured the same as the others so when that server served your site you got errors. This has been corrected so you shoudl not have this issue at this time.
