When I am in the admin area and I sought to do this I assumed these two would be in there as drop down options. Instead I'm supplied an "add" option and a series of subsequent fields that I have no clue how to fill. Am I suppose to use a currency convertor website for current exchange rates? Also i was wondering if OSC has the ability to update exchange rates automatically, or is it something that you always have to do manually?
I have not played with currencies, but it looks reasonably straightforward to me. You are asked to supply the various symbols used such as the currency symbol, whether it appears on the left or right, the punctuation used to designate thousands and decimals, and how many digits to the right of the decimal you want.
The value, I believe, is a conversion factor from the prices in the database to that currency. So if all of your goods are priced in, say Canadian dollars, you would define a currency CAD with a value of 1.0. If you wanted to allow other currencies, you'd specify the exchange rate as value. osC does not maintain conversion rates, though it would not astonish me if someone had come up with a contribution to do so.
