Restoring MySQL database

Further to the message I posted earlier about being unable to upload images, I have now lost my caption and category information database, though the image files already uploaded are still intact.

I have an up-to-date backup but I cannot get it to restore properly from the MySQL admin or by using the recently posted retore utility. The process simply times out. Admittedly it's a fairly large file, (8MB) but should that be a problem?

Once again I've already posted to the helpdesk and with luck the restoration can be done by Powweb, though so far no reply.

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated as this is tunring into a first-rate disaster. I don't relish the thought of manually reloading 4700 image captions.

your database schema is too large to import all in one chunk. you have 2 choices:

1. split your schema into smaller chunk and restore in pieces

2. use your own php.ini to overide the default powweb php.ini limits. specifically:
max_execution_time
max_input_time
post_max_size
upload_max_filesize
mysql.connect_timeout

option #2 is easier. you can read about custom php.ini here:

One easiest option still exists with phpMyAdmin.... but don't know if it is enabled in the POWWEB phpMyAdmin installation......

The mentioned option actually let you upload your sql files thru FTP to a particular directrory on your server then execute it with your phpMyAdmin ......

Do u have a clue if it can be enabled here in POWWEB. I suppose it is not present currently.
