Ok, my site was working fine and I had absolutely no problem getting to it... And then the DOS attack... and my site went down so of course I couldn't get to it - instead I was redirected to

http://dr.webservicehosts.com/index.php?tpid=10217&ttid=102&dst=2&st=http%3a%2f%2fwww.breeworld.com%2f

I've read on here that they are back up so I was like "wow great" go to my site... still redirected to the above link. Leave, come back a couple hours later thinking maybe it was still too soon but everyone I know can get to www.breeworld.com with no difficulties whatsoever. I've clearned my cookies and internet files.. II primary use IE 6) And that didn't help. I installed FireFox and tried through it - Nope still get to same link. I've rebooted, pleaded with my monitor, threatened my PC - nothing is helping.

Funny thing is, If I go through AOL Browser, it comes up just fine but I absolutely despise AOL.. I miss my IE - I can get to any other address on the internet BUT addresses that are hosted by Powweb... which makes me think it's a problem on this side but then again everyone else can get to the sites so makes me think it's a problem on my end...

I dunno but please help this is driving me batty!
Hugs, Bree

Alpha,

Thanks so much for trying but it didn't help :( But out of curiousity, what did that do? (I might be able to use it for something else in the future) I copied and pasted it and hit ok and a black box (looking like a dos prompt) came up and dissappeared before I could barely notice it LOL...

I stepped away from my computer, hoping to refresh my mind and come up with something else I'm still at a complete loss...

HOWEVER in Firefox I changed proxy for all protocols to 192.115.106.236 3128 and I can get to the site through FIrefox now... That was someone elses idea so I have no clue what I just did or if it's "safe" better or what... Any ideas on what that did or if that hints to the actual prob?

Thanks again for your help,
Bree

Oh well ... we tried :)

ipconfig/flushdns ... it just clears any cached DNS on your local machine.

Your cache might just be to full or you aren't cleaning all the cache files out. I wrote a tutorial on how to totally clear XP's cache, it will be similar for all Windows OS. You'll find it Here (http://www.streetsie.com/html/windows_xp_cache.html). I don't like the sound of that redirector. It may be spyware. If you don't already have Adaware (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button) I would get it, update it, run it. It's free.

You can also use Control + F5 in your browser to reload directly from the server. I hate to delete my cache :)

NMS - I'm an idiot sometimes or something cause all the control-F5 did for me was refresh the error page LOL I didn't know how to direct it to BreeWorld (My site) and reload it that way... But thanks for the try :)

Croc Hunter - I do have to say your tutorial was very helpful... I didn't know that a regular "Clean Disk" and whatnot didn't get rid of everything - in fact it missed like 3gigs of stuff... That's froggin' crazy. Anyways I did everything in your tutorial but still nothing. I also hooked up with the ad-aware and WOW... It didn't get rid of the redirectional link you were worried about BUT did find and get rid of quite a bit of "bugs" that my spyware prog was leaving behind.

I completed your tutorial a couple times. Defragged a rebooted enough to make my head spin. I even went and uninstalled a whole bunch of programs that I had on here that I barely used - cleaned up and defragged again. I even reinstalled IE6... Nothing. I spent hours on this and eventually gave up this morning. My site was still not coming up for me... Then just now, I had to try just one more time and without doing anything further and using IE, I can now view my site. If It wouldn't come up after all that I did and then just started working again I can only assume that it was never my prob in the first place and that Powweb has now tied all the dead ends?

Thanks for all the information, you "guys" are the best,
Bree

Alpha,

BreeIt runs in a dos box, and closes it immediately afterwards. Try it again in @ a dos prompt and you'll see more details.

Try it with ipconfig /? for more help on the ipconfig command - interesting info comes up - not a lot of use to me tho' :(
