View Full Version : I still can not access my site!

I still can not get to my site - if this is a cache issue with my ISP how we fix it? How about a litle direction since the problem was created by Powweb from the DOS attacks. I find it hard to believe that a major ISP like Comcast has a cacheing problem. Are other Comcast users still having problems? My site is www.rushrc.com. I have to have access to my site to manage users and we were planning a major new launch of our new cart. But I can not even access to do final fixes. This is BS I have been down for almost a full day now

.....Are other Comcast users still having problems? .....No, not it all. I personally have not seen any evidence of Comcast using the cache technique during the nine months I have had their service. Your site loaded quickly for me.

Where are you located? I am in Texas. I called Comcast and the cust svc rep, was in the NE and could load the site. He said either Powweb is having DNS problems or they have block some Comcast servers

I emailed admin@powweb.com just sit and wait now - this sucks

To force your PC to reload website you can use Control + F5

Alternatively you can type anythingyouwant.domain.com e.g. ffffff.domain.com and see if that works.

From what I understand from Comcast is that the servers that control me are located in the Denver Hub.

I can not get your site either - have you called your local Comcast? I run off the Denver Hub here in Dallas too and from what I was told the NE Comcast servers are able to load my site just fine - hence powwed is either blocking Comcast users out of Denver or they are having DNS issues

What is your theroy? Let me complicate it or substantiate it. I have 3 sites with Powweb.
Site #1 www.eurotuning.net - I can access it just fine - no problems
Site #2 www.ivedco.com - I can access it just fine - no problems
Site #3 www.rushrc.com - will not load for me but for some others no problems nor can I access other sites having similar problem.

This definately sounds like a Powweb issue!

RushRC ... Are you "Bruce"?

They may be running, but many of us are still unable to access them. I'm still in good shape here - still within my 30 day money back guarantee. Hope I don't have to go there! Maybe this will all go away in another day, but I signed up because of all the "no down time" hype. Guess not huh? :(

I am having the same problems... five powweb sites and only one of them isn't working...

thecoatesfamily.com - works fine
rowanmae.net - works fine
grace-anne.net - works fine
ipodnation.com - works fine
alltravis.net - doesn't work at all...

I am also, coincidentally perhaps, using comcast broadband in the Puget Sound area. I have tried refreshing using the methods listed above but nothing...

It may not be Comcast itself which is why a tracert to the afflicted sites would prove useful for stevel or others to see if there is a common bottleneck.

Assuming you're asking how to do a TRACERT &
Assuming you're using a Windows box of some kind:

Start
Run - and enter CMD into the dialog box
OK
enter TRACERT domain.com (where domain.com is one of the domains with a problem)
Copy and past the result(s)

Interesting wrinkle/observation:

I *CAN* access my site from my home with Mozilla FireFox.

I *CANNOT* access my site -- from the same PC on the same network -- using MS Internet Explorer 6.0

Same behavior when I try to access http://www.powweb.com. Mozilla Firefox works, MSIE doesn't.

Sounds like a firewall problem.

I have.

Other site users (all MSIE users) are also reporting that they can't access the site.

SOME users ARE able to access, since I see their activity in my vBulletin forums.

Whatever changed just a few moments ago DID allow me to get through with MSIE -- temporarily, at least.

I don't believe that these symptoms are unrelated, or that they're related only coincidentally.

I have, and it's not.

This is a freshly-installed WinXP laptop. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've used MSIE. I used Firefox almost exclusively.

A "caching problem" wouldn't explain why I can't reach powweb.com (in addition to my own site). I had never before tried accessing powweb.com from this freshly-installed MSIE browser.

I sent the info you requested via PM. I doubt, however, that you can reproduce my experience at this time. The symptom I was reporting disappeared at about 3:00 PM EST.

My observation was consistent with that of "stansoup56" who reported that he could access his site via AOL's Mozilla-based browser, but not via MSIE.

At the moment I can access my site from both Mozilla and MSIE browsers; but I have users in Michigan (on the Comcast network) who are still reporting that they cannot access.

I have encouraged these folks to try a non-Microsoft browser, just for the sake of good science.
