I need to move my domain name to another host, the domain was registered by powweb when i signed up for a 2 year (+14 months) package.

Now i need to move that domain name to another host, but keeping my powweb package as storage for files that my new website at the other host can "leech" from.

How do i go about this ?
Do i go to openSRS and change the name server info, is that enough ?
And how do i get a new domain name for my current powweb package as it would need a domain name ?

You can transfer the DNS to point to a different host at openSRS.

You would have to contact support after you get a new domain name registered and have them associate your package with it. It would be like changing your domain name and would cost you an extra $15 (one time fee) to have this done (if your package is over 30 days old).

But remember that we require a domain name associated with each package.

Leave PowWeb package alone. Change the DNS to point to your new host. Link to the images using the temp URL. I assume that would work and keep everyone happy. Your new host works, PowWeb has a domain name for the package (but no one points to it), and you can still get to the space with the temp URL. Just a thought.

My package is less than 30 days old.

According to tbonekkt a domain is required for a package, now, do i get another domain name first and let powweb staff associate it with my package, and then move the other domain, or could i move the other domain first and then get another domain for my powweb package.
(hmm, obviously it sounds like i should get another domain name first, have powweb associate it to my package, then change the DNS for the "old" domain name, just wanted to ask)

Hmm interesting, can any powweb staff confirm this ?

And if that does not work - let's say they shut off the temp URL - then you could also use the SSL URL maybe? Neither one of those use the dns since you are going to the PowWeb server, then it resolves the name. Again . . . just a thought. May save a few nickels.
