What is really the best e-commerce software?

I've heard of osCommerce and X-Cart as being two of the best e-commerce software out there. What do you guys think is the best, and why? I'm looking for one to use on my next new website. I'm looking for something that has alot of features, yet still easy to use and looks nice.

I'm using osCommerce and found it easy to install and setup. Powweb has a support forum ofr osCommerce right here that's very good. And osCommerce has it's own set of very busy forums and contributions.

I required some modifications to get it working the way I wanted - so it helps to know PHP.

I've never seen the other package.
